Lamka, August 07:
Against the backdrop of BSEM opening a compartmental examinations here after a threat of withdrawing its affiliation, Churachandpur District Students' Union (CDSU), a body that initiate the campaign now pitches for SSC and MPSC exam centre.
The State Government has, as was the case for its earlier demand agreed to recommend the setting up of examination to Government of India for recruitment examination conducted by SSC and MPSC in its MoU signed with students' body on 19th September 2006. Hundreds of aspiring candidates from the district have often wasted their yearlong hard work due to the strikes and bandhs that often marred Tiddim Road -the State's most popular highway.
The most recent of such incident transpired on 27 July, when bandh volunteers in Bishnupur turn back at least two buses hired by candidates vying for the SSC graduate level examination.
With' the candidates from the district often impeded by such an episode the Union has in a memo presented to the Chief Minister call on the government to make an alternative arrangement by setting up a bypass for Bishnupur Bazar or to arrange a security escort.
We are enough confident that you may kindly fulfill our demands so as to bring peace and mutual coexistence and particularly for the interest and welfare of the students of Churachandpur district, the students' body said.
ZHRF condemns: Zomi Human Rights Foundation said it is shocked and aghast about the unceasing serial kidnappings in and around the valley of Manipur which eventually spreads to the hill areas.
It is a fact that morethan 60 innocent students have been whisked away by some non-state actors for undergoing warfare strategies and training.
It is clear and loud that such kidnappings and whisking away of the would be leaders of our tomorrow is undermining Child Rights, education and curtailing of the juvenile justice, it said.
Besides, it also expresses serious concern on the deteriorating law and order situations in the state as it believed that reports about abrupt occurrences of extrajudicial killings, fake-encounters and unabated serial killings in the newspapers reflects the total failure of the government machineries.
Such situation in turn has the potential of creating confusion and could even results into a political unrest and communal disharmony, it said.
Children who are supposed to be provided free fundamental education were misguided, terrorised and force to become Child Soldiers, so it is high time for the state government and the civil societies to join hands to prevent such future occurrences said the rights body.
It also calls on all concerned to abstain from the path of violence, terrorism, child kidnapping, fake encounters and upon the public to be more cautious and vigilant in times of critical moments.
