Decrying planting of bomb in a pharmacy at Khwairamband Bazar, women vendors suspended normal activities for the day and staged a sit-in-portest today.
A hand grenade was found inside Suranjit Pharmacy, located next to the temporary market shed, at around 8 am today.
The hand grenade was reportedly left inside a bag by one non-Manipuri last afternoon assuring that he would come back to retrieve the bag.
Police retrieved the bomb.
In protest against the incident, women vendors staged the protest.
The agitating women also adopted various resolutions.
It included appealing all concerned to ensure such incidents which may cause fear and panic are not repeated and to face such threats collectively in future.
The women vendors have also demanded reason for planting the bomb and identity of the group involved.
On the other hand, in protest against repeated bomb threats at the residence of a civilian in Taokhong Apheiba in Imphal West District, people of the local area staged protest demonstration today.
According to a statement of Taokhong Apheiba Apunba Lup, the protestors decided to restrict entry of outsiders in the locality, until the matter related to repeated bomb threats is resolved, from 9 pm to 4 am every day with effect from July 1 .
