Agriculture training program

A one-day State level training cum distribution of inputs was held today at the training hall of Directorate of Agriculture, Sanjenthong under the aegis of District Agriculture Officer, Senapati.
The training programme was organised with a view to educate farmers on scientific methods of cultivation and provide them high yielding seeds in order to enhance their crop productivity in the backdrop of the fast shrinking agricultural land on one side and the ever increasing human population on the other.
Addressing the inaugural session of the training programme, Principal Secretary Rajesh Agarwal said that both the Government of India and the Government of Manipur have been paying special attention on increasing foodgrain productivity as the demand for foodgrains is rising.
To increase crop productivity, it is crucial to make farmers full understanding all the modern scientific technologies for cultivation of foodgrain crops.
Agriculture Director G Shamu Kabui presided the inaugural session.
Insecticides and pesticides needed from the seed sowing stage to harvesting stage were distributed to farmers selected for cluster demonstration.
