Ganja seized

Imphal, October 23 2016:
Around 500 Kgs of contraband ganja were seized from an empty oil tanker by Nagaland police near Lalmati, Nagaland last night.
Sources informed that the oil tanker with registration number NL-01-G- 8528 and other empty oil tankers left Imphal yesterday afternoon at around 2.30 together with security escorts for shipping in fuel from Guwahati.
Towards Guwahati, the said empty oil tanker stayed behind other oil tankers and security escorts.
When the lone empty oil tanker reached Lalmati of Nagaland in the late evening, Nagaland police searched the oil tanker and found 500 Kgs of contraband ganja inside the oil tanker.
The moment the ganja was seized, the driver of the oil tanker ran away but he was chased and nabbed by Nagaland police.
The driver has been identified as Kumar Chettri and the owner of the oil tanker is one Birendra AI of ADC Kangpokpi who is also said to be a joint secretary of the All Manipur Petroleum Product Transporters Association, sources said.
It may be mentioned that on September 4, Khujuma police seized around 1000 Kgs of contraband ganja from an empty oil tanker.
