COVID-19: More notification to avoid religious gatherings, events comes out

Following the rapid spread of the deadly COVID-19 epidemic and as part of taking preventive measures against the virus, the Department of Art and Culture, Manipur and other organisations related with the promotion of culture have appealed to the public to avoid religious gateherings on Sajibu Nongma Panba/Charakpuja/Baruni etc.
Executive officer, Govindaji Temple Board, president, Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board, president, Utra Shanglen Konung, president UKAL and Pana Pandit, Manipur Pandit Loisang, in a joint statement, have also appealed to each and everyone to refrain from any kind of gathering to keep COVID-19 pandemic at bay.
Meanwhile, Yaipha Lamjing Kanglup (YLK) club and Meira Paibi Chingarel Tejpur have also suspended prayer/ritual at Ima Kuthapnu Lairembi Chingarel Hill on March 25.Ipudhou Marjing Khubam Kanba Lup (IMKHUKAL) has also banned any praying/ ritual ceremonies, climbing of Cheirao Ching etc at Ipudhou Khubam.
On the other hand, the State Government, as part of taking up all preventive measures to contain the spread of coronavirus, has directed to close most public places, roaster of staff in Government offices to reduce gathering of people.
It has also restricted the visit of well-meaning groups bringing relief materials for victims of Chassad incident, which has the potential of spreading the virus to people staying in relief camps, said an order issued by Special Secretary (Home) H Gyan Prakash.
The order states that political parties, CSOs, NGOs, individuals etc will not be allowed to bring in relief materials and distribute it directly to the victims.
Parties willing to provide such relief materials may liaise with Kamjong DC for lifting and distribution of materials, it added.
Meanwhile, a notification issued by Chief Secretary, GoM has ordered to halt all the ongoing DPCs/fresh DPCs (including written test examination and viva voce) in view of the deadly threat of novel coronavirus.
It also informed all candidates not to obtain the application form as a fresg date will be intimated for submission as when the situation improves.
IMAKHOL has cancelled the celebration of its 18th foundation day at Adimjati Amity hall, which was scheduled on March 23 .
