Imphal, October 20 2020:
Apropos to the clarification by KNO/KLA regarding the alleged atrocities on civilians at Siempat in Longpi Circle, Noney, the Gangte Tribe Council (GTC), Gangte Youth Organisation (GYO-GHQ) and Gangte Students' Organisation have stated that they cannot accept the use of the term 'disciplinary action to some individuals' by the SoO outfit.
In a joint statement, the three Gangte bodies said that the 'assault' on civilians and indiscriminate unleashing of terror on villagers was in total contravention of the SoO ground rules.
It is clear from all available evidence that the helpless Siempat villagers have no interest or intention to invite any armed group in their villages, but it is the armed groups who tried dominating their village, it added.
Claiming that KNO/KLA is attempting to divert the issue, the statement added that allegation against GSO-GHQ president is nothing but a ploy to create confusion among the public.
The Gangte civil bodies believe in the peaceful coexistence of all communities and are seeking a conducive atmosphere to sort out the issue in the most peaceful manner, it added.
