Village school excels in the district level Independence Day parade competition

For the first time, Mapum Village High School was declared the winner of inter-school district level Independence Day parade competition held at Bakshi ground Dungrei Hungpung, Ukhrul.
It may be mentioned that villages from remote area took part for the parade competition for the first time which is held every year in the district at the occasion of Independence Day.
Two contingents - boys and girls - from Mapum High School participated for the parade competition.
Mapum High School girl contingent performed best and was declared the winner of 2018 Independence Day parade competition beating NCC contingent of Ukhrul High School and Sacred Hr Sec School girl team.
Altogether 38 contingents competed in the Independence Day parade celebration.
It has been reported that Mapum Village High School is a Centre for education which is situated at extreme eastern region of Ukhrul district and students from adjoining neighbouring villages enrolled in the school to study while local MLA 44 AC Ukhrul, Alfred Arthur Kanngam, through his personal initiatives, engaged additional 14 trained teachers including two physical instructors apart from government appointed school teachers.
However, the students were satisfied with the current set up which is running smoothly even though there is shortage of teacher and expressed that the school being located at far off places is free from any external disturbances making it perfect for study.
