Minor rape victim critical

The condition of the 6-year-old minor who was allegedly raped by a 14-year-old at Chinikol under Senapati district yesterday is said to be serious.
Rongmei Lu Phuam in a press meet today has claimed that the suspect is an 18-year-old youth and he had attempted to murder the victim after raping her twice.
Rongmei Lu Phuam president and Rongmei Union Organisation secretary Panti Golmei said the minor girl, who has now gained consciousness has revealed that the suspect had raped her twice at a paddy field and later tried to kill her.
According to Rongmei Lu Phuam, the girl was found lying in a pool of blood near a pond by the field after she went missing for about 2 hours.
The association alleged that the suspect must have dumped the girl conceiving her dead.
The urinary tract and intestine of the girl is severely damaged from the assault, Rongmei Lu Phuam has alleged.
Expressing surprise over the claim that the suspect is just 14 years old, Panti Golmei said he is an 18 year old youth and his identity is known to the association.
The association, while condemning the brutal act, has demanded suitable punishment for the prepetrator.
A JAC against the rape of the minor has also been constituted at the district today, Panti Golmei informed.
