The 14th foundation day of NCP Manipur Pradesh was observed at its office at Thangmeiband today with party President Radhabinod Koijam hiting out against the political opportunists and the current trend of sidelining ideology and philosophy of the political parties and relying solely on use of money and muscle power to win election.
Interestingly, the lone elected party MLA L Ibomcha was conspicuous by his absent from the foundation day celebration of State NCP unit.
Speaking on the occasion, Radhabinod recalled that at one point of time, politics used to mean where all the members come together to discuss the ideologies and philosophies of the party for the betterment of the society.
But today, such discussions are no longer relevant.
Every member is out in the field to look for their own benefit and they have scant regard for party ideologies or philosophies.
Pointing out that in all 21 party candidates were fielded in the recent general elections to the State Assembly, Radhabinod observed that keeping aside regardless of whether one was elected or not, most of them have not even come to the party office.
Among them, S Rajen who contested from Lamsang A/C has reportedly joined BJP and and some others are likely to follow suit.
However, departure of such individuals, who do not have faith in the ideology and philosophy of the party is not ongoing to affect the prospect of NCP in Manipur at all, Radhabinod contended.
Blaming the Congress led Governments both at the State and the Central level for rising corruption, Radhabinod asserted that with the next elections of President and Lok Sabha approaching fast, a change in the political scenario of the country is expected sooner and later.
Ex- MLA Doukhomang Khongsai alleged that 42 Congress candidates won in the recent election to the State Assembly on account of manipulation in the EVMs.
If EVMs are not use in the next general elections, there high possibility of NCP ruling the state.
NCP Vice President Wangnu Kom called upon the party members not to be discouraged even if not many party candidates have elected.
What is important is to strengthen the position of the party with sincerity and dedication, he added.
Youth President N Prafullo lamented over the alleged failure of the Congress led Government in bringing about any developmental works in the state.
Chandam Manihar decried the absence of lone elected candidate MLA Ibomcha on the foundation day and appealed to the party members not to repeat with such kind of hilarious acts in future.
