Cash incentives for Rio Olympians spelt out

Gold medal
winners in the Rio Olympic
Games will be rewarded Rs two
crore each while silver
medallists and bronze medal
winners receive Rs 1.5 crore
and Rs one crore each.
A resolution to this effect
was adopted during a Cabinet
meeting held this evening.
Notably, six Manipuri
powers are participating in
the Rio Olympic Games.
Briefing media persons
after the Cabinet meeting,
Government spokesman M
Okendro conveyed that the
Cabinet decided to give Rs 25
lakh to each of the State play-
ers who are participating in
Rio Olympic Games even if
they do not win any medals.
Even though the State
Government's financial con-
dition is not sound enough,
their parents would be given
Rs two lakh each.
Notably, Laishram
Bombayla (Archery),
Saikhom Mirabai (Weightlift-
ing), Pukhrambam Sushila
(Hockey), Thokchom
Anuradha (Hockey),
Kadangbam Kothajit
(Hockey) and Kangujam
Chinglensana (Hockey) are
participating in the Olympic
Games.
The State Cabinet agreed
to set up a separate Directorate for OBC and Scheduled Caste.
It was also agreed to relax the existing prohibition on
recruitment and make direct recruitment against vacant grade
III and grade IV posts in Fishery Department.
In line with a directive of the Ministry of Ayush to launch
the National Ayush Mission in all States, the State Cabinet
gave its approval to set up a Homeopathic Medical College in
Manipur.
It was also further agreed to create 41 posts for the pro-
posed Homeopathic Medical College which would be set up
at Lamphelpat, Okendro conveyed.
Subsequent upon the Letter of Permission (LOP) granted
by the Government of India to open six PG courses in JNIMS,
the Cabinet resolved to create 25 posts.
The PG courses which would be opened at JNIMS are
Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Bio-Chemistry,
Physiology, Anatomy and Forensic Science.
With a view to strengthen the Manipur State Rural Roads
Development Agency (MSRRDA), the Cabinet meeting re-
solved to absorb staff who are working in MSRRDA on
deputation from other departments and also to regularise con-
tract employees, Okendro said.
