Imphal, May 04 2011:
Villagers of Leibi in a memorandum submitted to Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, threatened to impose an indefinite bandh on the Indo-Myanmar section of NH 39 if government fails to deliver justice.
They alleged the Deputy Commissioner, H Deleep Singh for an arbitrary demarcation of the boundary between Leibi and Kwatha.
The memorandum alleged that Chandel DC Deleep is bestial.
The stand of the DC was against the court order dated 17-1-1924 case no.passed in its Hill Misc Case no.116/1923-24, the Leibi Village Authority pointing out while alleging the DC of barring media persons from covering the demarcation process on April 28 .
The memorandum alleged that DC, H Deleep Singh had ordered his security personnel to fire on the villagers and at least 12 women sustained injuries.
The memorandum demanded the immediate transfer of the DC, initiation of action against the firing of bullets to innocent villagers, compensation to the 12 injured villagers as per Maring customary law and to demarcate the land as per state Darbar Court order dated 17-1-1924 .
If the government fails to act , an indefinite bandh will be launched on May 7 untill justice is delivered.
Any untoward incident arising out of it will be the sole responsibility of the government.
The memorandum was signed by chairman Kh Medar Dangsa of the Leibi Village Authority,
Chandel district.
