Judicial remand for accused

Three persons of a family of Loitang Khullen Mamang Awang Leikai, who have been arrested by police regarding the murder of Irom Tamubi (65) of the same locality, have been produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West and remanded to judicial custody till August 14 today.
The three accused identified as Tamubi's elder brother Irom Apabi (70), his daughter Hijam Ongbi Thaba (22) and Thaba's husband Hijam Suraj (25) were produced before the Court under FIR Number 42 (7) 2015 of Imphal West women police station under Section 302 and 34 IPC.
Investigating Officer (IO) of the case pleaded the Court to extend judicial remand of the trio to enable further investigation.
Later, the Court remanded them to judicial custody and ordered to send Apabi and Suraj to Sajiwa Central jail and Thaba to Imphal Central jail.
The minor girl, who was arrested along the three accused, is presently lodged in Juvenile Observation Home, Takyelpat after she was produced before the Principal Magistrate of Imphal West Juvenile Justice Board on July 21 .
It may be mentioned that Tamubi's decomposed body was found buried at the residential compound of her maternal home after she went missing on July 18 .
As people of the neighbourhood felt something amiss, the entire family of Irom Apabi fled from their home from July 20 morning.
Moreover, Tamubi's house was also found locked from outside.
The two houses are located next to each other.
As people searched both their houses and their compounds, signs of dug up earth were seen inside a bushy area in the rear portion of Tamubi's homestead.
On digging the site, Tamubi's body was recovered and police were informed immediately.
Even as Irom Apabi and his family were arrested by a police team led by S Ibomcha, Imphal West Additional Addl SP (Law and Order) from a house located at the foothills of Leimakhong the same day, locals burnt down Apabi's house.
