Imphal, July 31 2015 :
Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has said that the confusion prevailing within the drafting committee of new ILPS Bill is an indication of Government's insincerity towards bringing a solution to ILPS issue.
In a statement, JCILPS assistant media co-ordinator Md Kheiruddin Shah Moijingmayum said that people have clearly understood Government's ploy of deviating the issue by making constant appeals to stop the agitation in the media.
People would never believe that the Government and that they understand the people's sentiment unless tangible steps are shown to the public, Md Kheiruddin said.
Saying that this distrust is increasing further with the reports of resignations tendered by three drafting committee members, Md Kheiruddin said that people must not stop the ongoing agitation but intensify it.
He said that the Government has failed to gain the confidence of the people and Government's appeal to JCILPS for talks would not bear any fruit at this point of time.
Instead, the Government must put in sincere and visible efforts to translate the people's wish into action, he observed.
Saying that people must study the resignation of three members of the drafting committee, Md Kheiruddin said that JCILPS is also closely monitoring the situation.
Slamming the political parties which try to politicise the pro-ILPS movement in the electioneering of by-elections of the vacant seats of the State Assembly, Md Kheiruddin said that people would give them a befitting reply if they do not immediately stop misleading the public.
Urging the public to extend support and co-operation to the announced agitations of JCILPS, he said that the time has come to stay united.
