Appreciating the decision of the State Cabinet to establish a Language Directorate in the state, various organisations including Meetei Eyek Erol Loinasillon Apunba Lup (MEELAL); Meetei National Front (MNF); All Manipur Private Schools' Welfare Association (AMPSWA); All Manipur Students' Guardian Organisation (AMSGO), Kangla Facebook Group (KFG) and Kangleipak Loinasillon Apunba Marup (KLAM) have conveyed gratitude to CM Ibobi and Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro for their efforts towards materializing the long cherished dream of having a separate Directorate for language.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, leaders of these organizations pointed out that people of the State have been demanding establishment of a Language Directorate in the state for the last 30 years.
After the State gazette published in 1978, Meetei Mayek text books were started prescribing in school syllabus during the reign of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh in 2006.Again, the present government under the ardent efforts of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro agreed to conduct Teacher Eligibility Test for Meetei Mayek, and now State Cabinet resolved to establish the Language Directorate.
They also observed that CM O Ibobi and Education Minister Okendro are like God send leaders for the promotion of Meetei Mayek.
