Under its Civic Action Programme, 21 Assam Rifles under 9 Sector under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) constructed a girls' dormitory and toilet cum bath block for the Mission Blind school at Heikakpokpi near Kakching Lamkhai to aid the destitute blind children studying and boarding in the school.
The project was inaugurated by IGAR (South) Maj Gen BK Chengapa, AVSM during a function yesterday.
During the year, 2006, the Assam Rifles already constructed a boys' dormitory and a toilet cum bath block under its MCA project.
Medical camps: 10 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) conducted a free medical camp at Sajik Tampak on April 7 and provided free medical treatment to around 430 locals.
I Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) also conducted a similar free medical at Nampisha village on April 9.A total 214 patients including women and children of Nampisha and its surrounding villages were examined and treated during the camp.
In addition to distribution of medicines free of cost, the locals were also educated on preventive measures against HIV/AIDS and Malaria.
