MANITEX cycle rally held at districts

An awareness cycle rally of "Manipur International Textile Expo-2018" (MANITEX), which will be organised by Directorate of Handlooms and Textiles from November 5 to 11 for the very first time in the State, was warmly welcomed by Wangjing Tentha AC MLA, Paonam Brojen and Thoubal DC, IAS Haobam Rosita at Wangjing Market today morning and flagged off for Imphal later.
Many denizens and volunteers of various clubs from Wangjing Tentha joined the rally which headed for Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Brojen conveyed that the expo which will be organised under the aegis of Directorate of Handlooms and Textiles aims to promote handloom/handicraft products of the State.
He lauded the people of Wangjing-Tentha for their cooperation and active participation in the rally.
The rally which concluded at Nilakuthi after passing through three districts of the State was flagged off from Irabot Park, Kakching Bazar by Hiyanglam AC MLA & MANDICO chairman Dr Y Radheshyam and Kakching AC MLA Y Surchandra at 8.30 am before reaching Wangjing.
On the other hand, Moirang Kendra MLA P Sharatchandra and Kumbi AC MLA S Bira Singh flagged off another awareness cycle rally from Moirang to Nilakuthi, Imphal.
The flagging off ceremony of the rally which was organised by Directorate of Handlooms and Textiles in collaboration with ICS, PRO, Paona Bazar was attended by Project Director Manager Handloom Bishnupur District, Kh Roma, Inspector Th Subadani and Supervisor N Nungshi among other dignitaries.
Saying that the event was organised to encourage the weavers of the State, S Bira appealed the public to support the initiative of the Government for development of the State.
