MYMAD condoles Akha Shalouni

Imphal, July 26 2014 : The Manipuri Young Mind Association Delhi (MYMAD) has deeply condoled the brutal killing of Akha Shaloni (29) at Kotla Mubarak area on July 21 .

Regarding the incident, MYMAD together with other student organisations of the NE filed an FIR on the incident at the Kotla Mubarakpur police station demanding arrest of all the culprits and give befitting punishment.

Acting on their demand, police arrested five suspects - Lokesh Bhadana (24), Azad Chaudhary (25), Sanjay (24), Sakti Bashoya alias Shanky and Rajiv Kumar alias Bittu of New Delhi and sent to jail.

It is really shameful to know that the different cases of crimes registered at Delhi from July 5 to 2 inflicted on North East people went almost unnoticed by the leaders of the State.

On July 5, an Assamese girl was molested, brutally murdered and thrown out of a running train.

On July 6, a Manipuri boy was brutally murdered and dumped in a drain at Chirag, New Delhi.

On July 11, Ricky Ranjeet was shot at and wounded by gang members of gold snatchers who were earlier caught by Laimayum Khulna, mother of Ricky, on an attempt to run away with a gold necklace snatched from her.

On July 14, an Asssamese girl was found dead mysteriously in her room.

On July 16, a Manipuri girl was found dead under mysterious condition in her room at Moti Bagh area.

On July 21, Shalouni was brutally beaten to death at Kotla Mubarakpur area of New Delhi.

MYMAD has urged the political leaders of the State to stop politicising the issue of the NE people at Delhi and urged the politicians to stop thinking for their gains only and do something for the welfare of the NE people otherwise dead body would continue to flow as happened.

Political leaders of the State were not present there to pay floral tributes or to utter some words on behalf of the deceased.

The Delhi Police doesn't pay attention to the complaints made by the NE people because of lack of support from the Government as they are very well aware of the fact that the agitation would not stay long as people mainly from NE here at Delhi are students or some employed class only.

MYMAD also expressed the desire to unite the different social organisation for the welfare of the people.

MYMAD further claimed that if the Delhi police had arrived in time Shalouni would not have died.

It would take less than 5 minutes by walk to reach the spot from the police station.

Despite they were informed, the police team never came late.

The call was made at 2am on July 21 but police came at 2.50 am.

MYMAD urged all the leaders in the North East States to raise voice against the police personnel who were responsible for Shalouni's death.
