Imphal, June 24 2018:
The BJP-led Government with dubious tactics has been fooling the people of Manipur but they cannot fool the people for long, asserted Congress MLA Govindas Konthoujam.
He was speaking as chief guest at the inaugural function of a newly constructed community hall at Langjing Achouba Awang Maning today.
He urged the incumbent Government to stop giving deceitful and misleading speeches to the public and do something for the welfare of public.
Asking if the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre has done anything for the development of Manipur, Govindas said that people cannot expect anything from the NDA Government.
The State Government has been directly carrying out many activities under its Go to Village mission which otherwise are primary functions and duties of Panchayats.
Hence, the Government has been violating the Panchayati Raj Act, Govindas said.
Despite all the hullabaloo about the Go to Hills campaign, not a single hill college was included among the six aided colleges which were recently adopted as full fledged Government colleges, he added.
MLA Kh Joykisan who is also a spokesman of Congress party said that there is a group of people who think that politics is about practising impressive rhetoric, making false promises and going for extensive publicity.
It is the bounden duty of each and every elected representative to work for the welfare of people.
MLA AK Mirabai is among the politicians who upholds his/her party's ideology regardless of whether they are in power or not, Joykisan said.
He further urged the public to identify those politicians whose sole objective is grabbing power by hook or crook and who have no qualms in speaking volumes of lies.
As for Congress party, it does not have any tendency to tell lies or befool the public, Joykisan said.
Even though Labour Department had released Rs 15 crore for labourers after the matter was raised in the State Assembly, the same amount is yet to reach labourers, he continued.
MLA AK Mirabai announced that she would build a house of three rooms for an orphan girl who hails from Heinoupok apart from bearing all the educational expenses.
She said that construction of houses for homeless people belonging to Patsoi AC would be started as soon as the MLA Local Area Development Fund is released.
