Imphal, June 24 2018:
The JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO which has been spearheading employees' agitation including cease work strike has announced that they would stage intense modes of agitation tomorrow.
Speaking to media persons today, JAC secretary general Laitonjam Biken appealed to all employees to support the 'intensified modes of democratic agitation' which would be staged tomorrow.
As for the inconveniences faced by public, the Government must be held accountable, he said.
Alleging that the Government has been working to suppress the employees' movement by using security forces, Biken reiterated that they would not hold any talk with the Government until and unless the warrant of arrest and show cause served to JAC leaders are revoked.
There was an instance in 2006 when the State Government arrested and imprisoned 70 employees after they were called to a meeting.
Biken maintained that the 15th Finance Commission would not provide any money for implementation of the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission for Rs 35,000 crore was already incorporated for the same purpose in the 14th Finance Commission's award.
Even though there has been no response to the memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister in connection with the ongoing agitation, the JAC sent reminder on June 21, he said.
The memorandum cited BJP's Vision Document as well as the resolution of the BJP State Executive Council, all of which promised 7th Pay to the State Government employees and pensioners.
The memorandum further appealed the Central Government to sanction a special economic package for implementation of the 7th Pay in the State, Biken said.
The JAC's agitation, however, does not encompass the Go to Village Mission, Go to Hills campaign and education, he added.
