Committee volunteers launch drive at schools

As follow up action on its earlier announcement, volunteers of Joint Student Coordination Committee today launched drives at some schools located near Pangei in Imphal East district during which several quantities of tobacco items were seized.
Educational institutions located on the Pangei Road and covered in today's drive included Hundred Flower School, RK Sanatombi Vidyalaya and Royal Academy, said Committee convenor Ng Milan and member A Thoithoi at a media briefing held at MSF office today.
They claimed that apart from spotting some students consuming tobacco items at the school campus many Zarda packets were recovered from the Hundred Flower canteen.
Moreover, eight mobile phone handsets, another item banned by the Committee within school campus, and some mobile chargers have also been confiscated during the drive, said the student activists while cautioning school authorities to ensure that the Committee guideline is strictly complied with to avoid facing embarrassing situation.
Girl students have also been informed to follow the dress code issued by the Committee, which is a conglomerate of six student organisations namely DESAM, AMSU, MSF, KSA, SWAK and SUK.
