Public Health Engineering Department
took out a water tax
drive at Keishampat Aheibam
Leikai and Uripok Achom
Leikai, Nambul river bank today
to collect water tax and also
to identify and disconnect unauthorised
consumers.

Manipur, Executive Engineer
L Dhaballo said the Division
had taken up similar drives to
identify unauthorised consumers
in the past.
This time, stringent actions
under the Water Supply Act
1992 would be taken up
against unauthorised connections,
he stated.
He urged the
unauthorised consumers to
regularise their connections at
the office of the PHED inside
PWD complex, or water reservoirs
at PWD gate,
Keishampat Thiyam Leikai,
Old Assembly road or at the
Water Zonal at Keishampat.

targets to collect over Rs 3
crore as water tax from areas
under the jurisdiction of the
division in a year.
The Division
collects about Rs 10 lakh every month from the 18,000 consumers against
a target of Rs 29 lakh.
Over 60 percent connections in and around Imphal area, at
present are unauthorised, Dhaballo stated.
He said the PHE Department is also mulling introduction
of prepaid system for water supply after regularisation of
consumers.
