27 Sector AR celebrates raising day

The 27 Sector Assam Rifles today celebrated its Raising Day to mark 9 glorious years of its inception with Maj Gen K K Sinha, GOC 57 Mountain Division attending a solemn ceremony organized at its sector headquarters, Tuibuang.
Raised on March 15, 2004 at Dimapur, the Sector since then has carried out extensive operations and also played a vital role is establishing peace in the region, said a press release of the sector.
The sector has not only been involved in numerous successful operations, but has also been instrumental in organizing various civic action programmes with a singular aim of lending a helping hand to the local populace, it added.
On the sidelines of the celebration Maj Gen KK Sinha unveiled a new memorial stone erected in memory of three jawans who had made the supreme sacrifice while serving under the sector.
L/Nk Kailash Wagh of 107 Engineer Regiment was killed in an IED blast on February 26 2013 while Hav R Prasad and Rfn L N Deori of 39 AR were killed during an encounter with militants along the Indo-Myanmar Border on January 16, 2012 .
The GOC while conveying his best wishes to all ranks of the Sector HQ on their raising day, complimented the dedication and commitment displayed and sacrifices they made to help create a conducive and secure environment in the state.
He also lauded the efforts made by the sector to provide free artificial limbs through a team of expert doctors from Jaipur Foot and the sector's programme to impart pre-recruitment training to youths in the district.
A team of doctors from Jaipur Foot would be visiting the sector on March 18 and 19 for making necessary measurements of over 20 individuals who have approached the sector for want of artificial limbs.
The limbs will be fitted on April 8 and 9 April at Headquarters 27 Sector, said the sector officials.
The pre-recruitment training and rally scheduled between March 18 and 30 is intended to prepare young aspirants for the army recruitment rally which would be held at Lamka Public Ground from April 1 through 6 .
