Imphal, August 13 2017:
The RIMS Nurses Association Lampehlpat (RNAL) has demanded appropriate action against the Deputy Registrar of Societies, Imphal West for recognising the fake office bearers of the association and has also announced to file a legal suit against the official .
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, L Ashangbi Devi, member of RNAL, stated that as per the notification of the election of new office bearers of the association, the election was held on May 25 and a Returning Officer (RO) was appointed and a notification was also issued for the organisation of a general body meeting to discuss the resignation of the Joint Secretary of the association on the day of the election .
However, before handing over charge to the newly elected members, a fake notification for the general body meeting with fake office bearers of the association signed by H Babita Chanu came out on June 6 and on the next day, another notification for the election of Treasurer and Joint Secretary dated for June 9 came out .
One June 6, the officer bearers elected on May 25, tendered their resignation to the RO on the ground that the previous office bearers did not hand over charge and failed to provide financial statement of RNAL but the RO did not accept the resignation .
However, she clarified that the members have not tendered any resignation to the president of the association .
She further stated that on June 12, Deputy Registrar of Societies, Imphal West, L Tomba, recognised the fake office bearers .
Ashangbi said that on July 24, some members of RNAL lodged a complaint to the Deputy Registrar not to recognise the fake office bearers and another reminder was also submitted to take appropriate action in the interest of the 132 members of the association.
On July 28, the Deputy Registrar passed an order for conducting an inquiry and appointed officers for supervising the inquiry and some time later, the enquiry report was submitted to the Deputy Registrar .
The report recommended holding a fresh general body meeting for the election of new management committee members as per provisions of the Manipur Society Act, 1989 and rules and regulations of the Association .
However, despite the recommendations of the enquiry report, the Deputy Registrar failed to take up any action till today and still continues to recognise the fake office bearers of RNAL by neglecting the enquiry report, she alleged .
Ashangbi continued that the members of the association will meet the Registrar and submit a complaint regarding the issue and will also file a legal suit against the Deputy Registrar.
