Blood donation camp

As a part of selfless works of Social Warriors Manipur ( SWM ) for the welfare of the people, SWM in collaboration with Department of IHBT, RIMS Imphal organised its 3rd voluntary blood donation camp at Community Health Centre, Yairipok today .
Themed "Donate blood, Save life", the camp was held in connection with the observation of Patriots Day .
Speaking to media persons, Social Warrior Manipur (SWM) Convenor Keisham Kaminikumar stated that the blood donation camp aims to eradicate the problem of stereotyping blood donation as usually harmful to the donor's body and the need to pay for blood etc .
Kaminikumar urged all to voluntarily donate blood as it could save lives without any price .
"RIMS and JNIMS lacks 1000 units of blood and it is critical that we contribute so that the hospitals do not have to face any case of insufficient blood units", he said .
He further stated that SWM has been donating blood units not only to people of the state but also to North East people who are residing in areas like Delhi and added that SWM will always work for the people' welfare in the future as well .
Urging the people to contact SWM whenever necessary, Kaminikumar stated that they would provide the necessary blood units at the earliest .
Before the beginning of the camp, floral tributes were paid to the photo of patriots Tikendrajit and Thangal General .
An awareness programme was also held at the end of the camp, reports our correspondent .
A total of 61 people donated their blood voluntarily and T-shirts, appreciation certificate and donor card were distributed to the donors as a token of appreciation.
