Imphal, May 11 2012:
To become a scientist is the wish of Athokpam Langlen Chanu who topped the HSSLC Exam 2012 conducted by COHSEM in the Science stream.
Langlen is the second child of Athokpam Ibomcha and Anita of Ningthem Pukhri Mapal.
She has two siblings.
Anita is a Lecturer at Thambal Marik College whereas Ibomcha is a businessman.
After clearing HSLC Exam from Brighter Academy, Langlen studied class XI and XII at HRD Academy.
Talking with The Sangai Express, Langlen observed that education in Manipur is passing through a crucial phase given the adverse impacts caused by bandhs and blockades every year on one hand and the fast changing global educational scenario on the other.
School is a sacred institution for students.
It is here where students must strive to amass as much knowledge and wisdom.
However, on account of disturbances emanating from different directions, students are unable to acquire thorough and in-depth knowledge about myriad subjects within school campus, Langlen said.

This has necessitated private tuition to the level which a student cannot forgo.
"Preparing for the class XII exam, I went for subject-wise private tuition.
It was essential because the level of competition has reached an all-time high", the topper said.
"Even if one does not wish to go for private tuition, there is a need for a competent teacher who would be readily available for consultation at any time of the day", she added.
