Man escapes from abductors

Imphal, December 10 2014:
A shopkeeper, who went missing after he went to Khwairamband market to buy plastic chairs for sale carrying around Rs 1.5 lakh on December 8 morning, escaped from the clutches of his abductors today.
Laishram Sunil (35) alias Khoimu s/o L Yaimachou of Pukhrambam runs a shop at Singjamei supermarket.
He stays at a nearby locality with his wife and children and he mainly deals with goods coming from Myanmar in his shop.
Sunil got an order of 100 plastic chairs from three persons who came to his shop a few days back, said a source and added that they also gave him Rs 2000 as advance payment for the said order.
At around 10 am on December 8, Sunil went to Khwairamband market to buy goods for sale carrying around Rs 1.5 lakh.
As he never returned home, his wife lodged a complaint at Singjamei police station.
On the other hand, shopkeepers of Singjamei supermarket staged protests demanding Sunil's safe release yesterday and today.
Even as people started blocking Imphal-Moreh road at Singjamei supermarket area today at around 12.30 pm, Sunil informed his wife over the phone that he was at Achanbigei.
After the information was passed to the police, the shopkeeper was rescued from the locality and admitted at JNIMS hospital as he was very weak.
According to a man, who was part of the rescue team, Sunil told him that he met the three persons who came to buy plastic chairs at Paona Bazar and had given him the advance money of Rs 2000 .
Even as he went inside their Maruti van, Sunil lost consciousness, he added.
Although, nobody was there near him when he regained consciousness, his mobile phone and Rs 1.5 lakh were found looted.
However, they left around Rs 1000 for him.
Sunil fled the area and reached Achanbigei.
The villagers not only gave him shelter there but also helped him to contact his family.
Singjamei police is investigating the incident.
