Imphal, September 08 2013:
Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (Amkil) today celebrated its 13th foundation day at EEMA conference hall, Keishampat where those present took fresh pledge to campaign against forces inimical to the territorial integrity and interest of the people of Manipur.
While senior journalist RK Ranendrajit in his address as the chief guest recounted contributions of AMKIL in the public movement to protect territorial integrity of Manipur in the wake of the threat posed by NSCN-IM, Amkil president Phanjoubam Sakhi affirmed that the Lup would never relent from its commitment to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur and promote communal harmony.

Pointing out that Amkil's focus is not limited to issues concerning territorial integrity of Manipur but accords top priority in campaigning against violation of human rights, Sakhi also regretted that inspite of Irom Chanu Sharmila's ongoing peaceful agitation against continuous imposition of Armed Forces' Special Powers Act 1958 and intense public agitation triggered by the rape and murder of Thangjam Manorama Devi, atrocities against women continue to recur.
