Phou-oibee bridge inaugurated

Member of Parliament Dr Thokchom Meinya Singh has inaugurated Phou-oibee Bridge at Phayeng today.
The bridge connects Phayeng village and shrine of "Phou-oibee" located at Phayeng Forest.
The bridge was constructed from Member of Parliament Development Fund on the Maklang river that flows between Phayeng village and Phayeng Forest.
Dr Thokchom Meinya Singh (MP Lok Sabha), Angom Shyamashakhi (Pradhan of Phayeng Gram Panchayat) and Kh Devendro Singh (ex-MLA Sekmai AC) graced the function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Meinya Singh said, Phayeng is one of the most developed villages in the State and lauded the hard work and dedication of Pradhan and Members of the GP.
Earlier there was a wooden bridge between Phayeng and the shrine of Phouibi.
With the new bridge, the pilgrim will go to shrine without any difficulty even in rainy season, he said.
"Phayeng should strive as a model village.
The Panchayat should play greater role in improving the education sector in the village," he said and urged the people and the Panchayat to take up steps to enrol all children of the village in schools.
Emphasising the need of educating children, the MP encouraged village elders, parents and teachers to guide and teach their future generations to be disciplined and hard-working.
Saying that improved Govt schools infrastructure can do more good, he urged the people to support the Government in its every endeavour to uplift the Govt schools/education system in the State.
Ex-MLA of Sekmai AC Kh Debendro Singh appreciated the MP for his many developmental works.
