2nd Soldong Valing Sports Meet gets underway

Imphal, November 07 2018: The 2nd edition of Soldong Valing Sports Meet being organised by Anal Youth Fellowship, Imphal kicked off today at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.

The sports meet will witness 10 men's teams compete in the football competition and 10 men's and 10 women's teams fight for top honours in volleyball competitions.

Men's Volleyball
AMKA, Golapati registered the first win in men's competition beating Employee's team by 3-1 sets (20-25,25-25,25-14,25-12) while Challengers prevailed over ABYFI to notch up a 25-22, 25-14, 25-16 win.
Women's Volleyball
Kankhu Avengers took off their title campaign in the women's volleyball competition by beating ASWC-MU by 3-1 sets (15-25, 25-14, 25-13, 25-18) while the second match of the competition saw Employee's beat Modern College by 3-1 sets (25-17, 25-13, 21-25, 25-19) .

Football Competition
Employee's Valing, ABYFI and AMKA FC defeated their respective rivals in the opening day of the meet while Shumkhol FC and ASWC-MU played out a 0-0 draw.

The first match of the competition saw Benjamin opened up the scoring in the 5th minute to give Employee's Valing a 1 -0 lead but the score was equalised by SP Hmanwar of Sunday School DFC in the 9th minute of the match.

The stalemate was however broken in the 56th minute when HB Arun made a fine run into the box and sent the ball into the net from close range and made it 2-1 in favour of Employee's Valing.

Sunday School DFC's condition worsened in the 80th minute when Sr Gladson of the winning side came up to wrap the game 3-1 with a fine shot.

In the second match of the day, ABYFI forwards were simply unstoppable as they trounced Church Deacon by 7-2 margin.

NI Beloveson's double (47', 77') for Church Deacon went in vain as Ch Jason (5', 32') and WS Changde (65', 78') shone with two goals each to give ABYFI a huge win.

BS Mojoy (18'), BS Gentleson (57') and BD Alex (71') also added one goal each to help ABYFI seal a 7-2 win.

In the last match, DY Nohrin (35') and WL Gladson (68') helped AMKA FC, Golapati earn a 2-1 win over Ruwngkhu Avengers.

The lone goal of Ruwngkhu Avengers was scored by Tangkhel in the 61st minute.
