In accordance with a schedule prescribed by the Election Commission of India, integrated final photo electoral rolls of all the 60 Assembly Constituencies of the State were published today.
Releasing the integrated final electoral rolls in the conference hall of the Chief Electoral Officer at Lamphelpat this afternoon, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Ramananda Nongmeikapam said that electors, representatives of political parties and the public may access the integrated final electoral rolls at the offices of the Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and booth level officers.
The integrated final electoral rolls may also be accessed on the Chief Electoral Officer's website www.ceomanipur.nic.in.
Representatives of recognised political parties may come with authorisation letters of their respective parties and collect one copy and one DVD ROM each of all the 60 Assembly Constituencies from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer free of cost.
For extra copies, one has to pay Rs two for each page.
For half a page or portion of a page, one has to pay Re one.
Extra DVD ROMs may also be purchased at Rs 100 per piece for one Constituency, said the Joint Chief Electoral Officer.
According to the final photo electoral rolls published today, the total number of voters in the State as on January 1 this year is 19,12,649 (9,30,931 males and 9,81,630 females) .
Altogether 88 third gender voters are also listed in the electoral rolls, Ramananda said.
He went on to claim that Manipur has inserted maximum number of colour photographs in the electoral rolls.
So far, 66 per cent of the State's total voters have colour photographs in the electoral rolls.
Recently, the State Election Commission carried out a verification drive of electors.
In the course of the verification drive, more than 67,000 voters were removed from the electoral rolls while 38,000 new voters were enrolled.
Double entries as well as names of deceased voters were also removed, said the Joint CEO.
He also invited complaints if anyone comes across double entries or names of deceased voters in the electoral rolls.
According to a general understanding, 63.28 per cent of the State's total population should be listed in the electoral rolls.
With the exception of Senapati and Kangpokpi districts, voter enrolment rate of all the districts of the State ranges from 60 per cent to 64 per cent.
The voter enrolment rates for Senapati and Kangpokpi districts are 34 per cent and 28 per cent respectively.
There are six Assembly segments in the two districts but voter enrolment rate does not reach 40 per cent in any of these Assembly segments, Ramananda said.
Even though census populations of the two districts are high, voter enrolment does not reach the expected percentage, added the Joint CEO.
