Imphal, July 31 2015 :
The All Manipur Working Journalists' Union has adopted six points during its emergency general body meeting held today with its president Wangkhemcha Shamjai in the chair.
After minutely deliberating a number of points, the Union has urged all concerned not to pose hindrances to the media persons who are out on duty.
The meeting decided to approach local clubs, meira paibis, the JCILPS, the JAC formed in connection with the death of Sapam Robinhood and others not to pose any hurdle to media persons who are out on duty collecting news.
AMWJU said that the agitators should not use derogatory words against journalists who are out on duty during any course of agitation.
If these unwanted cases are not checked then situation may come to such a pass that the media is not in a position to highlight news to the public.
It was also decided to roll back the suspension decision passed against some Editors as well as to incorporate some Editors, who cannot become members of AMWJU according to the Constitution of the Union, as associate members.
The general body meeting also decided to approve some new members who have sought admission to AMWJU as well as to start the necessary drive to distribute press jackets to its members.
The Union also reiterated its stand that journalists out on duty should not be harassed or dissuaded from covering any events during any bandh or blockade.
