A seminar on the topic "Writers' response to the contemporary Situation of the North East India" was jointly organised by the Department of Art and Culture and North East Zone Cultural Centre Dimapur at State Guest House today.
The inaugural function of the seminar was attended by Art and Culture Commissioner P Bharat as chief guest and former president of the Manipur Sahitya Parishad B Jayantakumar as functional president.
Speaking at the occasion, P Bharat observed that works of writers reflect the aspirations and reality of a society.
Likewise, literary works of the writers belonging to the region reflect the situation prevailing in the Northeastern States.
The seminar was participated by writers from Tripura, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Manipur.
Dr M Priyobarta of Manipur, RK Jitendrajit Singh of Tripura, NGR Singh of Meghalaya, Dr Rajendra Bhandari of Sikkim and Surojit of Barooah of Assam presented papers.
The morning session of the seminar was moderated by L Joychandra while Th Ratan was the moderator in the afternoon session.
