Imphal, May 19 2012:
Unknown armed persons reportedly tried to abduct a 36-year old man at gun-point after forcibly entering his house located at Urup Awang Leikai under Lilong police station.
Narrating the ordeal at Manipur Press Club today, Md Najimuddin (Moni) s/o Md Nejamuddin said around 2.30 am today, some unidentified persons asked him to open the door but was not complied with.
Moments later the unknown persons kicked down his door and stormed into the house with one of them pointing a small weapon at his head.
As his wife Majida yelled for help, two more persons rushed in and kept Majida and his cousin brother at gunpoint, Najimuddin said who also informed that as he was taken out of the house about 20 persons in combat uniform were also at the court-yard.
After taking Najimuddin upto the residential gate some among the unknown persons reportedly insisted that he be taken toward the backyard even as one of them tried to calm down the 36-year by saying that he would not be harmed as they had come to trace a man who ran towards his (Najimuddin) house.
As fervent pleas by both Najimuddin and his wife failed to evoke positive response, Najimuddin said he managed to free from the clutches of his abductors and ran through the backyard.
While running Najimuddin said he spotted two Maruti Gypsys and a 407 mini truck parked at the road but with no one inside.
Claiming that the unknown persons also vandalised his rooms before leaving, Najimuddin wondered why he was subjected to such atrocities as he had no enmity and was earning his livelihood by driving an autorickshaw.
Members of Urup Part-II Muslim Youth Club, and Development and Protection Organisation Keirao Makting GP Area strongly denouncing the act suggested that all disputes, if any, should be resolved in a conducive manner in broad daylight rather than create fear psychosis by entering one's house at odd hours.
