Consultative meet held

Rural Youth Development Centre, Kanggui (Kangpokpi) conducted a consultative meet for community leaders at the multi-purpose hall of Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council on the topic ' Peaceful co-existence among the ethnic people in Sadar Hills, Senapati district' today, our correspondent reports.
The meet was sponsored by United NGOs Mission Manipur.
Thangkhosei Haokip, president, Kuki Inpi Manipur; U Nobokishore, Secretary, UNMM and Dr Ngamkhohao Haokip, Principal, Mission High School, Kangpokpi were the speakers of the meet.
Khaimang Chongloi, general secretary, Kuki Inpi Manipur; Seikhomang Khongsai, president and N Sehjalien Gangte, general secretary, Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills and leaders of KSO, Sadar Hills, TSA, Sadar Hills and other local civil bodies also attended the consultation meet apart from youth from different parts of the district.
Speaking at the occasion U Nobokishore said the solution of the ethnic problems in Manipur lies within the people.
The Government of India will not bring any solution to the problems of the people.
If there arises any situation which cannot be tackled by a single ethnic community, community leaders from all sections of the society need to work collectively and tackle the situation as one.
Both India's Act East Policy and China's Go West Strategy would have serious political and socio-economic ramifications on the peaceful co-existence of the ethnic people in the State, Nobokishore said.
"We are not against the development policy but we totally oppose the negative outcome of development policy which will render the people completely insecure in the name of development and trade", he added.
Stressing on the various ethnic disorder among the communities of the State, Nobokishore underlined the importance of dialogue among all community leaders to chalk out amicable solutions to various problems.
He also urged community leaders and Church leaders of Sadar Hills to help UNMM in bringing peaceful co-existence among the ethnic people.
Dr Ngamkhohao Haokip said insecurity is the key factor which disturbs the peaceful co-existence among people.
Thangkhosei Haokip, president, KIM averred that Kuki Inpi Manipur is a non-political organisation committed to peaceful co-existence and justice for all.
The meet ended with a prayer by Reverend Y Haokip, managing director, Rural Youth Development Centre, Kangpokpi.
