DESAM, CADA inspect CHC

Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), Jiribam branch and Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA), Jiribam branch, led by DES AM president L Romio Singh and finance secretary, CADA, Sinam Romen Singh, inspected the Community Health Centre of Jiribam today, our correspondent reports.
Addressing media persons after the inspection drive, DESAM president L Romio Singh said only 5 out a total 22 doctors posted at the CHC were present during the drive.
While two of these doctors are on training at RIMS, five others are being utilized at JNIMS and another Primary Health Centre and two are on casual leave.
He said due to lack of necessary instruments in the hospital the patients are referred to the nearby hospital at Assam.
In-charge Medical Officer of the CHC Dr Ramananda Singh said many of the doctors posted at the centre have to stay at hotels or rented houses as quarter facilities are not provided by the Government for them.
The visiting team has cautioned the absent doctors of stringent action if they fail to report at the centre within ten days.
The bodies have further appealed to the Director of Medical and the local MLA of Jiribam to look into the matter immediately.
