A 27 year old youth from Andhra Pradesh Sheikh Hussain has been sent to judicial custody till August 11 for 'attempting' to board an Air India flight to Goa from Imphal by submitting a forged Covid test report on Tuesday.
Sheikh Hussain, a resident of Kothapera Gowdi Andhra Pradesh was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West today by a team of Singjamei police along with a prayer for granting him judicial remand.
Sheikh Hussain, an employee of Varaha Infra Limited was arrested after an officer of Air India Imphal reported about possible forgery of Covid test report while verifying his documents.
The IO submitted that during interrogation Sheikh Hussain revealed that on July 24 he booked a flight ticket from Imphal to Goa to attend a marriage ceremony on August 12 .
Saying that he came to know that COVID -19 RT-PCR test report is mandatory to board a flight only at the last hour, the IO submitted that Sheikh Hussain admitted to have forged the Covid negative test result.
The IO further submitted that the test report used was undoubtedly a fake as Babina Diagnostic intimated that no person with the credentials mentioned in the report was registered for testing.
The Court on perusal of the case ordered that the accused be sent to judicial custody till August 11 .
