Court examines witnesses

The Special CBI Court (Sessions Court Imphal West) today examined the submissions of CBI headquarters (Special Anti Crime Branch, New Delhi) Dy SP L Thomas Salu and Inspector Shiv Charan Chauhan during the trial of Irom Roger Murder case.
Thomas and Chauhan appeared before the Court as CBI Prosecution witnesses number 54 and 57 respectively.
The trial hearing of the case was conducted under Session trial number 3/1215/13/55/2013 with ref RC 2 (s) 2011 CBI with reference to FIR No 131 (3) 2011 of Singjamei police station under Section 309 and 27 Arms Act.
During today's trial, the Court disposed Chauhan's submission after due examination while Thomas' submission was also partially examined.
Thomas is the investigating officer of the case and examination of his submission will continue tomorrow.
Prime accused of the case � Nongthombam Ajay (30) s/o former Minister and present MLA of Heingang AC N Biren of Luwangshangbam Mamang Leikai was present during the trial.
It may be mentioned that a few days after the daylight alleged murder of Irom Roger during Holi festival in 2011, the State Cabinet decided to hand over the case to CBI.
Later, CBI took up an FIR under Section 302/34 and 27 Arms Act.
CBI submitted charge sheet against Ajay in mid 2012 and the charge was framed against him before the Special CBI Court in June 2012 .
Altogether 70 prosecution witnesses are listed in the charge sheet framed by CBI.
It may also be mentioned that Ajay's four associates had already been discharged from the case by an order of the Sessions Court, Imphal West in May, 2012 .
Irom Roger s/o Irom Lokendro was allegedly shot dead after a road rage along Tiddim road at Ghari opposite KT Girls' Hostel under Singjamei police station in Imphal West district.
