Tatbung VA announces 72 hours total bandh

Imphal, June 21 2016:
The Tatbung Village Authority has imposed a 72
hour total bandh on North East Frontier Railway
line project from Jiri to Tupul from the midnight
of June 22 to June 25 midnight.
Tatbung VA, in a statement issued by its
general secretary J Thangboy Kuki said N/F
Railway Department, Jiribam and Tamenglong
in a meeting with the village authority had
agreed upon four demands made by the body
on January 18.These demands were, con-
struction of a new playground in the village,
repairing of water supply pipe damaged by
BIPL Company (Ltd), construction of stairs
and roads to improve connectivity.
Alleging that the railway authorities have
ignored all the agreements, the general secre-
tary of the body J Thangboy Kuki, in the
statement said they will impose total bandh
on the NF railway line project from Jiri to
Tupul from the midnight of June 22 to 25.
The village authority has also warned to
launch intense forms of agitation in case the railway authority fails to address their de-
mand.
Passenger services will be exempted
from the purview of the bandh, the state-
ment said.
