AHFs medical kits distributed

Hemophilia Society Imphal Chapter in association with Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL) and Hemophilia Federation, India, under the Heal-A-Soul CSR Project distributed free medical kits containing Anti-Hemophilic Factors (AHFs) worth about Rs 6 lakh to 15 young boys suffering from Hemophilia today.
In a simple function held at the Department of Immunohaematology and Blood Transfusion, RIMS, Sh Anindya Chakraborty, Additional General Manager, BHEI/TGB-Eastern Sector, Kolkata, distributed the medical kits to the beneficiaries.
In his address, Anindya Chakraborty briefed about the BHEL and its CSR activities especially the Heal-A-Soul project.
Hemophilia Society Imphal Chapter founder president Professor A Meina and Department of Immunohaematology Blood Transfusion RIMS HOD Professor Dr A Barindra also took part in the function.
Hemophilia is a genetically transmitted, life long, bleeding disorder which can even lead to death if left untreated.
In India, there are over 700 children suffering from Hemophilia.
In Manipur, 32 young boys are living with the disorder, Prof Meina informed.
Today, only 15 selected children have been provided free medicine kit containing AHFs.
AHFs medicine kit will be made available to the remaining children soon, he added.
