Against Jiribam .
Tousem Headquarters Students' Union has strongly opposed the declaration of Jiribam sub-division as a full-fledged revenue district.
In a statement Joseph Newme, president of Tousem HQs Students' Union said that people of Tousem will strongly oppose the creation of Jiribam district if land under Tousem sub-division is incorporated within Jiribam district.
Declaring the creation of Jiribam district without consulting the stakeholders concerned is condemnable, the statement said.
The statement added that villages under Tousem sub-division consisting of different tribes have been paying taxes ever since Tamenglong district was created.
The State Government should consult every village chief of the sub-division before any demarcation for creation of Jiribam district is made.
It also added that if the demand put forth is not addressed, the State Government should be held responsible for any untoward incident.

Against Kpi .
SENAPATI, DEC 13: The Naga People's Organisation (NPO) while taking strong exception to the declaration of the Kangpokpi district by the Government of Manipur with the same jurisdiction as the proposed Sadar Hills despite the four Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs), has said that the move to declare new districts without the consent of the people cannot be accepted.
It asserted that Nagas can never accept "artificial boundaries created by such political agenda" .
The NPO reiterated that no Naga villages would be allowed to be made as "minorities in the new districts" and demanded that the State Government should withdraw its order on the creation of Kangpokpi district.
"Any consequence arising out of this blatant disregard of the people's sentiment will be the sole responsibility of the State Government," it warned.
Stand on boundary .
Senapati, Dec 13 : The Thangal Union has strongly opposed the design of the State Government to include Thangal villages in the newly created Kangpoikpi district.
Reiterating its stance to defend its ancestral land rights and ownership, the Thangal Union in a statement demanded that the recent creation be revoked or reviewed considering the ancestral land moved into the newly created district which is against the wishes of the people.
The Thangal Union said that it is not against any community nor is it demand based on communal agenda but asserted the right to defend its land against the State Government's decision to bring artificial demarcation and annexation of its land and property through such unjustifiable creation.
The Thangal Union demanded that the decision will not be accepted till its areas and jurisdiction are moved together with other Naga areas.
