Passenger services to cease on Aug 16

All passenger services will be ceased on August 16 as a part of the people's movement to safeguard the integrity of Manipur and the sanctity of its territorial boundary.
Speaking to media persons at Keishamthong office of IPSA this afternoon, ACOAM Lup president Chandramani Khumancha said that UCM's constituent bodies viz; ACOAM Lup, CLK, IPAK, IPSA, Kanglamei, KILL, KSA and PANDAM have taken a decision to this effect together with different transport unions/organisations.
Buses, mini-buses, vans, mini-vans and autos operating on different routes would be parked in rows from 8 am to 4 pm of August 16 and there will be no passenger service on the day, Chandramani said and added that inter- State passenger service would not be affected.
Everyone has a fair idea about the Government of India's plan to extend Article 371A to Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh as a final solution to the political dialogue between Government of India and NSCN-IM.
The Government of India's plan is nothing but direct attempt to polarise different ethnic groups and disintegrate Manipur, Chandramani said.
He appealed to all transport organisations and transporters to support the proposed cessation of passenger service.
Joint Administrative Council of All Manipur Under 5 Ton Passenger Services Association convenor Laikhuram Somorendro who also present at the press meet pledged support to the proposed stir.
The routes identified for the August 16 agitation are Sagolband Meino Leirak-Tera Keithel, Keishampat-Sangaiprou, Moirangkhom-Lilong, Konung Mamang-Kongba, Kongba-JNIMS Gate, Chingmeirong-Lamlong, Konung Mamang-Porompat, Checkon-Lamlong, Uripok (Jas Gas)-Naoremthong, JNIMS-Lamlong, Keishampat-Pishumthong, Lamlong-Chairenthong and Chingmeirong-Khabam Lamkhai.
