Imphal, May 13 2017:
In a move that could further strengthen the joint fight against the Northeastern militant outfits based in Bangladesh and check infiltration, New Delhi has given the green signal to Dhaka to use State roads in Tripura and Mizoram for construction of Border Outposts (BOPs) by Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) in Chittagong Hills Tract (CHT) area.
Officials in the Union Home Ministry told this correspondent from a leading English Daily that the Government of India would provide security and logis-tical support to Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) in this regard.
The government has adopted a multipronged approach for security arrangements at borders to curb cross border smuggling and infiltration.
"The arrangements include deployment of border guarding forces, construction of border fence, construction of border roads, installation of floodlights, construction of BOPs, installation of hi-tech surveillance equipments, providing advanced weapons and specialized vehicles to security forces, among others," officials said.

The development assumes significance as a few chief ministers of the Northeastern States including Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar recently said Tripura militants and those from other Northeast Indian States were taking advantage of the relative absence of the Bangladesh security forces in remote areas, particularly in Chittagong Hills Tract.
"Bangladesh government has already taken strong action against these rebels but some camps have managed to survive in remote areas of that country," Sarkar added.
