Conference held on Eliza death case at Langol

In protest against the unnatural death of Waikhom Eliza, the Woman's Development and Cultural Council, Langol Ningol Leikai; JAC against Eliza's death and Chingmi Tammi apunba lup of Langol collectively organised a conference at Langol Tribe community hall today.
Condemning the silence maintained by the Government and the Hospital authorities of RIMS, Advocate Shivananda Sharma, Human Rights Law Netwok said that a Medical expert committee should be constituted to probe the services rendered by RIMS hospital.
Medical negligence, he added, has led to numerous deaths in the State.
Resource person Khoirom Loyalakpa, Editor, Naharolgi Thoudang also spoke at the event.
He said the RIMS authority should investigate its own system to unravel the truth behind the death of Eliza.
He further insisted Lamphel police to take up a suo moto case for investigating Eliza's death.
Doctors at present are more concerned with bagging money from patients.
The lesser well off categories are often denied or neglected proper treatment, Loyalakpa continued.
Most of the non-practising doctors, he said, who are being paid allowance every month have employed themselves at private hospitals.
He further complained that the Government has robbed its people of the previleges enjoyed by the people under the Manipur State Commission for Human Rights.
Eliza's husband and other notable persons also spoke at the event.
