Jiribam, February 03, 2013:
PHE and Labour Minister I Hemochandra accompanied by high-ranking officials of the two departments today travelled on NH 37 and inspected different development projects being executed at Jiribam.
The first stop of the Minister's entourage was Kadamtala where construction work of ITI complex has been completed.
Hemochandra expressed displeasure on seeing that the ITI is yet to open even after its construction has been completed.
Observing that ground structure of the rear portion of the ITI complex has been obliterated due to stone quarrying, the Minister instructed officials concerned to prohibit quarrying activities near the ITI complex and also to take up necessary steps for fencing the ITI complex.
He stated that the ITI complex would be inaugurated very soon.

Capitalising on the Minister's visit, Meira Paibi leaders and NGOs highlighted the inconveniences caused by ring wells which have been abandoned by contractors incomplete.
After hearing these complaints, the Minister went to the spots where the ring wells were constructed.
He was enraged on seeing that enclosures were put around ring wells by the villagers themselves to protect children and domestic animals from falling into the wells.
Peeved with the way the contract works were executed, Hemochandra quizzed the PHED officials.
He also hinted that contract works for Jiribam may be allotted to local contractors rather than contractors from Imphal.
The team then inspected a toilet complex which is being constructed under the Total Sanitation Campaign of Bharat Nirman Abhigyan.
At Bidyanagar where a major water treatment plant is constructed, the Minister saw only 10/20 labourers working at the plant.
Hemochandra also observed that the plant was being constructed by contractors at their own wisdom without any technical consultation.
So far the water treatment plant has proved to be expensive though it is making little progress.
Hemochandra directed the concerned contractors to show work progress at the earliest.
Speaking with this correspondent, Hemochandra assured that maximum efforts would be put in to complete all the abandoned and incomplete ring wells.
Extra wells would be dug at places where there is water scarcity, he added.
