Six more 6 Dengue cases from Henglep : CCpur leads with 66 Dengue, 29 JE cases

Test results for the blood samples collected from 41 patients who are among the first to be evacuated from the interior village of Najang in Henglep subdivision havd returned today with at least 6' of them turning out to be infected with the Dengue virus.
With latest figure of six more positive!, the total cases of Dengue in the district has now touched 66 while that of JE stands at 29, according to the CMO of Churachandpur.
About 170 ailing villagers from about 7 villages located in the vicinity of Henglep sub-divisional hqtrs had been evacuated in three phases last week due to lack of health care facilities in the area.
Najang village which is at the epicentre of the latest outbreak comprises of more than half of the evacuees most of whom are children below 12 years.
The magnitude of the reported figure taken ill in the hostile and inaccessible terrains have visibly taken aback the authorities at the district and State level.
A medical team comprising of 3 doctors and 10 oilier health workers has been deputed yesterday by the Government to Henglep for assessment and containment of the outbreak.
The medical team with the assistance of a squad of the State police and staff from the SDO Henglep office have also been tasked to conduct fogging at vulnerable sites and launch awareness campaigns.
They are to be stationed at PHC Henglep until the time the Government issues a subsequent notification.
A team of specialists and paramedics have also been detailed from Imphal to conduct an emergency medical camp at the district hospital Churachandpur since yesterday.
They are to continue the camp till tomorrow or as required, according to an order issued by the Health Director Dr K Lokendro Singh.
Meanwhile most of the villagers are now accommodated at Youth Hostel which is situated in close to the hospital while the KKL volunteers have taken the onus of preparing their diet.
The clinical results obtained today are for the first 41 evacuees while the blood samples for the remaining were taken to Imphal today.
It will take another 3 to 4 days to have a broader picture, sources said.
