Seminars on 'Women in science' conclude

A two-day long seminar on the theme of 'Women in science and social science in North East India', which was underway at Imphal College, concluded today.
The valedictory function of the seminar was attended by Ambassador of Cuba in India Miguel Angel Ramirez Ramos as chief guest and former Minister of Art and Culture Dr M Nara Singh and Rosa Margarita Alvarez Casanova of the Embassy of Cuba as guests of honour.
At the occasion, Ramos and Casanova presented talks on issues related to education, health and status of women in Cuba.
On the other hand, another two-day long seminar on 'Preserving Indian folk song and dance' organised by Bharat Savak Samaj, Manipur State Branch under the sponsorship of Minister of Culture, New Delhi concluded at the conference hall of Mass Hotel, Assembly Road today.
Chairperson of Manipur State Social Welfare Board RK Nayansana Devi and Secretary of Manipur State Kala Akademi Sh Vedeshwar Sharma were respectively the chief guest and president of the concluding function which was also attended by former Minister W Jagor as guest of honour.
At the occasion, Lamjao Tomba presented Moirang Parba Kanglei Bichar, Laxman and his party of Mantak village presented Kom folk dance, Th Ningthemjao performed traditional Pena folk song, Rose Mangsi and her party presented Kuki folk dance.
Other traditional dance and performing art forms like Leishem Jagoi, Maibi folk dance, Khulang Eshei, etc were also witnessed at the occasion.
