Stepping up the tempo for scrapping all Bengali script text books and introduction of Meetei Mayek scripts at schools, Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasilon Apunba Lup (MEELAL) volunteers along with members of various student bodies set ablaze Bengali script text books in different parts of the State to protest the State Govt's failure to introduce Meetei Mayek script textbooks.
MEELAL volunteers began the agitation by setting ablaze Bengali script text books at Keishampat Bus parking at around 11.20.The agitation further intensified in the afternoon and similar incidents were reported at Kongpal Netaji high School, Leikinthabi and SSC ground Sekta.
Similar form of protest were also carried out by the activist at Chandel district�s Maha Union Govt High School, Oriental Academy, Emanual High School and St Peter's High School , Noney Bazar and Senapati Bazar today.
Talking to mediapersons today, MEELAL chairman Ch Akaba informed that intensifying the agitation had become a necessity as the Govt had repeatedly ignored and neglected demand of the organisation for years.
He also urged the public to extend cooperation and support agitation launched the Meetei Mayek activists.
