World Red Cross Day observed

Volunteers of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Imphal West District branch distributed blankets to under-privileged aged persons on the occasion of World Red Cross Day.
The event was conducted on the theme "Be Humankind".
The beneficiaries included a man and a woman who also received artificial legs under the PRP project.
Separately, Red Cross Day was also observed by Indian Red Cross Society, Imphal East District Branch at JNIMS Hospital Blood Bank today.
Approximately 70 people donated blood in connection with World Red Cross Day.
The event was attended by Dr Nivedita, Director, Transport Department as chief guest; K Surjit, Medical Officer in-charge, JNIMS as guest of honour; RK Nimai, secretary, Indian Red Cross Society as president of the function.

Dr Nivedita addressed the gathering on the occasion and stated that volunteers of the Red Cross Society play a big role in providing aid to people across the globe in various situations.
This is a source of pride for all of us, she said.
She also lauded the blood donation effort adding that their generosity will be appreciated by patients who are in desperate need of blood transfusion as well as their families.
She further provided assurance of support to all future endeavours of the Indian Red Cross Society.
