Tree saplings planted at Saranamai village and Khangabok

The Saranamai village in collaboration with the Divisional Forest Officer, Senapati Forest Division, GoM have organised tree plantation on July 6 at water catchment area of the village between Liyai village and Phuba Khuman village.
The drive was organised as part of the 70th Van Mahotsav celebration that begun on July 1 last in the presence of Mangoljao Singh, Range Officer, Liyai and his staff.
Speaking on the occasion, D John Sha, MFS, DFO, Senapati Forest Division said that plantation of trees is taken up for the next generation though the present generation might not reap the fruits.
The DFO also stated the importance of the plantation at the village situated at such high altitude where water could be the main problem for the village.

The forest department had recently brought water to many villages which are facing acute water shortage in the past.
He said that fertility of a place could be washed away by rain water where there is no trees adding that landslides occur at a place where there is no trees.
Drought and flood occur where there is no trees and emphasised on the need to protect and preserve forest at the region.
Abundance of trees in a forest at any place gives water and good air to breath for the populace.
With population explosion witnessing day after day, the DFO urged the people of the region to plant trees and protect wild lives to lessen the negative impact of environmental imbalances faced by the human beings.
Alexander Maikho, ADC member also thanked the concerned department for giving whole attention to the need of the village and to have provided required saplings of different varieties on the day.
THOUBAL, Jul 7:
Manjor Mangang, founder of KM Blooming School, Thoubal Khangabok in collaboration with various club and organisations of Khangabok AC planted more than 3,000 saplings along a stretch of 2 km long road from Lairenkonjil, Khangabok part III to Tentha as part of tree plantation drive which got underway in different part of the constituency since July 1.Speaking to the media persons, Manjor Mangang said that the tree plantation drive was initiated as part of Van Mahotsav celebration since July 1 in different parts of Khangabok to ease the effect of global warming faced by the present generation.
He continued about 2500 tree saplings were planted along the road from Nungphou Bazar to Samaram which is about 1 km and will continue to do so till the last day of July.
Meanwhile, as part of Van Mahotsav celebration since July 1, trees were planted at the Botanical Garden of Thoubal College to fight environment degradation due to massive felling of trees in the region.
The Van Mahotsav celebration which concluded today was organized by Botany Department of the College while a project namely Medicinal Garden to be run by Biotech Department was also inaugurated during the celebratory function.
Later, a cleanliness drive led by Principal of the College, O Chaoba Devi was conducted inside the College Campus and various flower plants were also planted in the Botanical Garden of the College.
