Kangpokpi, June 19 2017:
Reiterating the previous stance of KSO Sadar Hills over the controversial issue of National Sports Varsity site between LTangnaum and Koutruk, the newly elected executives of KSO Sadar Hills have drawn the attention of the BJP led coalition Government's attention to settle the dispute at the earliest.
The student body also urged the authority concerned to halt the construction work till the issue is settled amicably and further urged the State Government not to invite trouble over the issue.
After deliberating on the issue at its administrative office building, a press conference was held at LNC Hotel, Kangpokpi where president of KSO Sadar Hills Thangminlen Kipgen stated that the long pending boundary issue between LTangnaum (formerly known as Haraothel) and Koutruk village regarding the construction of National Sports Varsity is yet to be settled by the Government.
He also said that the presence of engineers and construction workers in the area will invite trouble rather than bring understanding among the disputing groups and asked the authority to halt the construction work at the earliest.
"The high-handedness of the BJP led State Government exists inspite of a pending High Court litigation for land survey", asserted Thangminlen Kipgen and added that the said area remains unsurveyed for so long that Litigation No.667 of 2009 is still pending in the High Court.
He further asserted that the construction site for the National Sports Varsity is very much under the administrative jurisdiction of Saitu Gamphazol sub-division, Kangpokpi district and condemned the alleged outrageous act of the State Government.
The student body president also said that the discriminatory move on the part of the Government, despite its knowledge of the NSU guidelines, is very unfortunate and the intention of clubbing the land of LTangnaum under Imphal West District in the name of Sports University or any developmental works is most unfortunate.
Expressing discontent, he stated that the dispute could have been prevented if the Government had the competency to act accordingly with the facts followed by the Court order.
The Kuki Students' Organization, Sadar Hills urged the State Government to work towards a speedy settlement of the dispute.
